1. Smith Apologizes In Opening Statement
For the first time as the interim head coach, Smith opened media availability with a personal statement addressing Monday’s press conference.
He opened by clearing the air in answering a question about his communication with James Franklin, saying that they talk “probably every other day.”
The most important part of his overall statement, however, was when he admitted that he “made a mistake” in how he talked about his hometown of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania during the Monday press conference.
On Monday, he described Aliquippa as a “small town” and that it’s “not a very nice place,” however he clarified his remarks on Wednesday by saying: “I love Aliquippa and my roots and where I’m from.”
