A video of star offensive guard Olaivavega Ioane went viral on social media last Saturday as he jumped over a railing to help a struggling equipment manager after the game against Ohio State.
The video of Ioane helping out the equipment manager was viewed thousands of times on X and other platforms.
On a Power 4 college football team, there are many people that make up the operations. From the players to the coaches to the equipment managers and athletic trainers, everyone plays a major role.
“A lot of people don’t know – who are outside the building – don’t know that we don’t run without [the equipment managers],” Ioane said. “Guys like that, we can’t practice without them [and] we can’t go to games without them.”
Just as much, Ioane recognizes that the players need to step up and do their part as the equipment managers handle their business.
