Josh Bartosik breaks down hockey's performance during the first semester

As the calendar gets ready to flip from 2025 to 2026, Penn State finds itself in a peculiar yet promising position.

A Nittany Lions team that is dangerous and fast with flashes of brilliance, yet still searching for consistency in a loaded Big Ten conference. 

Guy Gadowsky’s squad currently sits at 11-5-0 on the season and 4-4-0 in conference play, a record reflecting both their explosive upside and the moments where they’ve faltered in controlling games or staying disciplined.

A forward group with a healthy mix of seasoned players and talented newcomers alongside a blue line still trying to turn the corner, Penn State has the tools to make noise.

Yet the first half has also revealed clear weaknesses that need tweaking if the program wants to rise above during a grueling second-half slate. 

Hot and Cold Scoring

Few teams in the country can boast a line like that of Charlie Cerrato, Matt DiMarsico and JJ Wiebusch.
