Focusing on Right Now is Key for Andrew Rappleyea

How A Past Injury Shaped A Tight End's Mindset

By Bryan Portney

Tight end Andrew Rappleyea saw his 2024 campaign end with a torn ACL in the season opener. That experience has shaped him into what his focus is on now.

Brand Of Football

Rappleyea described his type of football as “violent, fast, physical, decisive [and] explosive.”

That play style comes out on Saturdays as Rappleyea stands at 6-foot-4 and 251 pounds, weighing in as the heaviest among Penn State tight ends that regularly see the field.

Despite this, he has still been able to showcase his speed as he did so with a career-long 26-yard reception against Nevada.

Not only does Rappleyea focus on his game, he carries that onto the team as they look to find their footing in the next few weeks.

“I think [that] just coming to practice, polishing our tools [and] coming out, just cutting loose and playing our type of football,” Rappleyea said regarding the upcoming week with Michigan State ahead.
