Women's Volleyball Season ends in NCAA Tournament
Final thoughts on the 2025 campaign
By Dan Krupinsky
The 2025 Penn State women’s volleyball season came to an unceremonious end on Saturday night in Austin, as the Longhorns swept the Nittany Lions
and ended their title defense.
This isn’t the kind of ending that most people expected from a defending National Champion who began the season ranked #2; but, in retrospect, it was always irrational to have expected Penn State to pick up right where they left off last season after losing so much production and leadership from that championship team.
It was an unfortunate ending for the seniors, especially Big Ten Libero of the Year Gillian Grimes, but I imagine the Big Ten and National Championship rings they earned last year will go a long way in defining their collegiate careers as a major success.
