Women's Volleyball heads to Austin for Postseason
Penn State prepares for record 45th NCAA Tournament
By Dan Krupinsky
With Penn State getting ready in Austin to begin their record-extending 45th consecutive NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament, they are both in familiar and unfamiliar territory. While the Nittany Lions are the only program to have appeared in every single tournament, they have only opened the Round of 64 away from home three times in the last 26 years.
Mostly playing in the friendly confines of Rec Hall, Penn State is a perfect 26-0 in the first round since the tournament expanded to 64. They also have an overall record 78-3 in sets played, although all three dropped sets have come relatively recently (2023, 2021, 2017).
So, that all seems like good news!
