Terry M. Smith - Wednesday Media Notebook
News and Notes from Terry Smith's Wednesday Press Conference
By Bryan Portney
Penn State football interim head coach Terry M. Smith addressed the media on Wednesday evening ahead of a road test against top-ranked Ohio State on Saturday.
1. Saying of the Week: Chopping The Redwood Tree
Smith said the saying of the week was that Penn State “was going to chop wood.” He continued by saying Penn State has “got to be able to chop a redwood tree until [the job is] done.” Smith commented that this is the mantra going into Saturday’s matchup, which is one that seems even more crucial now that the Nittany Lions are seen as heavy underdogs. For Smith, it’s “one chop at a time” and he says that Penn State has to “believe in those chops” in order for it to break through for them against Ohio State.
